What to Expect and Other Frequently Asked Questions

SVP Denver hosts events throughout the year across a range of formats. Whatever the format, you can count on a few things: real conversations, clear information about how to take action, and a room full of people who care about the same things you do.

Do I need to be an SVP Denver Partner to attend events?

Many of our events are open to the public, including info sessions and community gatherings. If you're curious about SVP Denver or want to learn more about supporting local nonprofits, you're welcome to show up. Some events are designed specifically for Partners and Investees, and those will say so in the event description.

I run a nonprofit. Are your events for me?

Yes, check the event description to see who a specific event is designed for. Some events are specifcally designed for Partners, and others are for current organizations we are supporting. Either way, we offer many public events if you haven't (or are interested in) applying for support.

Will I be asked to donate or commit to anything at an event?

No. Our events are a chance to learn, connect, and explore. You'll hear about ways to get involved, and some events do include calls to action like donating, offering pro bono time, or connecting your organization to SVP Denver support, but there's no pressure.

What kinds of skills or backgrounds show up at SVP Denver events?

SVP Denver Partners come from finance, law, marketing, technology, human resources, operations, and many other fields. Nonprofit and other mission-based organization leaders at our events represent a wide range of focus areas, from affordable housing and food access to education and economic mobility. There's no required background. If you care about Denver and want to do something about it, you'll fit in.

Can I bring a colleague or friend?

Please do. SVP Denver events are better when more people are in the room. If you're a Partner, you're welcome to bring someone who might be interested in getting involved. If you're a leader of a mission-driven organization, bring a board member or colleague who would benefit from making connections in the Denver impact ecosystem. Some events require registration, so please register your colleague or friend if requested.
