SVP Accomplishments and Funding History 2000-2009

Center for the Visual Arts

SVP funding helped the Center for Visual Arts maintain the assistant for the Program Director. By supporting the Director’s assistant, the Center was able to double their program offerings reaching nearly 500 youth. SVP funds also secured a matching grant of $5,000 art supply grant. SVP Partners were also instrumental in securing donations from major supply companies like Elmers, and Colart America.

College Summit

College Summit asked SVP Denver to assist them with board development, fundraising, event planning, and program development. SVP Denver also aided College Summit in strategic planning, staff leadership development, and public relations and marketing.

cityWILD

As a social enterpise, cityWILD's needs focused on business and marketing planning for their for-profit rafting business. Through a strategic partnership with the Bard Center, SVP assisted cityWILD with developing a robust marketing and business plan.

Colorado HAWKS

SVP Denver assisted HAWKS in planning the Middle School basketball tournament during the NBA All-STAR weekend in 2005.

Colorado MESA

SVP Denver has been an important Partner to Colorado MESA. Our 2006 grant helped the staff at MESA hire a part-time staff writer to secure more funding. In 2006, the grant writer that the SVP grant supported raised nearly $160,000 for the MESA program. In 2006 and 2007 SVP restricted two grants totaling $25,000 to hire a grant writer, which resulted in over $600,000 of additional revenue being raised. These funds have allowed MESA to hire additional staff, and expand their program. In 2007, SVP Denver helped MESA develop a plan to expand their program to include the health sciences.

Denver SCORES

Board development and strategic planning were two focuses of SVP Denver’s partnership with Denver SCORES. Other resources that SVP Denver Partners were able to bring to Denver Scores were technology support, fundraising support, and helped design and implement fundraising events.

Front Range Earth Force

During the three year partnership that SVP Denver developed with Front Range Earth Force (FREF), SVP Partners supported their fundraising efforts, provided significant software and technological support and materials from MicroSoft, and helped with their overall organizational structure.

PlatteForum

Through our partnership with PlatteForum, SVP were able to assist both the staff and the board with projects in the following categories: fund development, financial management, board governance and development, as well as strategic planning. 

OpenWorld Learning

SVP Denver was instrumental in helping increase OWL’s exposure to the wider Denver community. Many Partners engaged in OWL Community Outreach team, which seeks to expose OWL’s programs to the larger Denver community through strategic events. SVP Denver has assisted OWL with their accounting, fundraising, event planning, and long-term vision. SVP Partners have also been instrumental in having organizations donate computers to OWL students, and finding resources to sponsor OWL sites. In 2007-2008, OWL will be in 15 sites, up from 3 in 2005 when SVP partnered with the organization.

Smart-Girl, Inc.

In 2006 – 2007, SVP Denver partnered with Smart-Girl to increase their exposure in the Denver education community. SVP funds were primarily used to help the team at SG develop their Leadership and Training Facilitation guide and other marketing materials. Partners were involved in strategic planning, growth management, and program expansion.

The Spot

SVP dollars supported the GED, College and Career Transition Program at The Spot, a drop-in youth center of Urban Peak. While partnering with SVP Denver, the spot doubled the amount of students who graduated from their GED program, and was able to offer more classes on different nights during the week. SVP Partners were vital in developing a post-GED mentoring program.

YouthBiz, Inc.

In the three years that SVP Denver worked with YouthBiz, SVP Denver Partners helped develop a new business plan for YouthInk!, helped with board development, fundraising, and marketing. SVP Denver also assisted YouthBiz evaluate their upcoming building project.

Youth Venture Colorado

In 2006, SVP Partners assisted Youth Venture Colorado in developing a business plan.
